1. Chris Wondolowski 🇺🇸

The record belongs to Wondolowski and it is not close. 171 MLS goals, 167 of them for San Jose Earthquakes. He broke Landon Donovan’s record in May 2019 in stunning style — scoring all four goals in a 4-1 win over Chicago Fire to pass the mark on the same afternoon he equalled it.

He was a late-round draft pick who took seven years to break through. Not the fastest, not the most talented by traditional measures. But he read the game better than anyone, was always in the right place, and never stopped scoring. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in May 2026. His record will take a generational striker to break.
