How Many Wins Do You Need To Reach A Target?
To find how many wins in a row you need to reach a target win percentage, the calculator solves:
For example, a team on 20 wins from 38 matches has a 52.6% win rate. To reach 60%: (0.60 × 38 − 20) ÷ (1 − 0.60) = 2.8 ÷ 0.40 = 7 straight wins. After 7 more wins the record is 27 wins from 45, which is 60.0%.
The bigger the record, the slower the percentage moves. That is why a manager with hundreds of matches rarely sees their win rate change much from one game to the next.
