About The Tournament

What Is The 2030 FIFA World Cup?

The 2030 FIFA World Cup is the 24th men’s World Cup and marks 100 years since the first tournament in Uruguay in 1930. For the first time, the World Cup will be played across three continents and six countries.

Morocco, Portugal and Spain are the main hosts. To celebrate the centenary, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each host one opening match before the tournament moves to Europe and Africa. Like 2026, the 2030 World Cup is planned with 48 teams.

The GlobeHour World Cup Countdown 2030 shows the time left in your own time zone and updates every second. You can also see countdown milestones, progress since the 2026 final, add the date to your calendar and download a branded PDF.

Good to know: the very first World Cup matches were played on 13 July 1930, and one of them was the USA’s 3–0 win over Belgium in Montevideo.

The Formula

How The Countdown Is Calculated

Example: Jake Miller in Dallas checks the opening match countdown at midnight on 26 October 2026.

ResultFormulaExample
Time LeftTarget date and time − now8 Jun 2030 − 26 Oct 2026
DaysTime left ÷ 86,400 seconds1,321 days
WeeksDays ÷ 71,321 ÷ 7 = 188.7 weeks
HoursDays × 241,321 × 24 = 31,704 hours
ProgressTime since 2026 final ÷ total wait × 10099 ÷ 1,420 × 100 = 7.0%

The clock uses your device’s time zone, so a fan in Miami and a fan in Phoenix each see the countdown to midnight on the target date where they live.
