Finland does not always grab the headlines, but the players it produces are serious athletes who compete at the top level across Europe. These five women bring real talent, natural charm, and a presence that goes well beyond the pitch.
No. 5 Milla-Maj Majasaari
Milla-Maj Majasaari has a calm, focused presence that suits a goalkeeper. She started senior football remarkably young, making her top-flight debut in Finland at 14, and has built a career across several European leagues.
Majasaari joined FC Midtjylland in July 2026 after a spell with Fortuna Hjørring. Earlier in her career, she helped AIK win promotion in Sweden after keeping 13 clean sheets in the 2020 Elitettan season and being recognised as the league’s top goalkeeper.
No. 4 Elli Pikkujämsä
Elli Pikkujämsä has an athletic, composed look that reflects her unusual sporting background. Before committing fully to football, she competed internationally in snowboarding and won medals at junior level.
Pikkujämsä now plays for FC Rosengård after moving from Racing Louisville in 2025. She had already established herself as one of Finland’s strongest young defenders before going abroad, including being named the best defender in Finland’s top league in 2019.
No. 3 Juliette Kemppi
Juliette Kemppi built her reputation through movement, energy and a willingness to take her career abroad. Her playing years included spells in Finland, Sweden, Norway and England, giving her one of the more varied careers among Finnish forwards of her generation.
Kemppi made her senior Finland debut in 2013 and later represented the country at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022. Her most recent documented club season was with Växjö DFF in 2023, after which the Swedish club announced that she would leave.
No. 2 Vilma Koivisto
Vilma Koivisto has a fresh, confident presence and a game built around movement and control in midfield. She moved into Swedish football early and has continued to develop against strong competition.
Koivisto plays for Hammarby in 2026 and is also part of Finland’s senior national-team setup. UEFA lists her in Hammarby’s 2026–27 Champions League squad, confirming her place in one of Sweden’s leading women’s teams.
No. 1 Joanna Tynnilä
Joanna Tynnilä has a composed, understated presence that fits the way she defends. She rarely looks rushed, and that calm style has helped her become a regular for both Brann and the Finland national team.
Tynnilä joined Brann from HJK in 2023 and has since become an important part of the defence. In September 2026 she reached 100 appearances for Brann’s women’s team, becoming the first foreign player in the side’s history to reach that mark.
