5. Hannah Blake

Hannah Blake was born on May 5, 2000, in London but grew up in New Zealand. She made her senior Football Ferns debut at just 17 years old and has been part of the national team setup ever since. She signed her first professional contract with Perth Glory in January 2023 and scored on her debut in a 3-1 win against Western United.

She later moved to Adelaide United and then crossed to England, joining Durham Women in 2024. In March 2026, she scored a hat-trick in a World Cup qualification match against Solomon Islands as New Zealand won 8-0. Her pace, directness, and eye for goal make her one of the most exciting young forwards the Football Ferns have right now.

4. Jacqui Hand

Jacqui Hand is an Auckland-born forward who built her game at Colorado College in the United States before earning senior international recognition. She made her Football Ferns debut in October 2021 in a match against Canada and scored her first international goal just weeks later against South Korea.

She was selected for Team New Zealand at the 2024 Paris Olympics, a career moment she worked years to reach. At Colorado College she finished tied for 15th all-time with 18 career goals and was named a second-team All-Mountain West selection three times. Her natural warmth, infectious smile, and dedication to the game have made her a firm favourite among Ferns supporters.
3. Deven Jackson

Deven Jackson’s football story is not a straightforward one. She took a three-year break from the game to undergo three hip surgeries before returning and proving she still had everything it takes. She signed her first professional contract with Canberra United in September 2023 and never looked back.

She moved to Newcastle Jets and then joined Melbourne City FC in July 2025. She earned her first senior New Zealand cap in January 2023 and has built on that with 40 international appearances since. Her pace on the left wing and ability to beat defenders one-on-one make her a constant threat. Coming back from three surgeries and still performing at this level says everything about her character.

2. Anna Green

Anna Green was born on August 20, 1990, and made her senior New Zealand debut in 2006 at just 16 years old. What followed was one of the most decorated careers in Football Ferns history. She represented New Zealand at four Olympic Games and three FIFA Women’s World Cups.

She played for clubs across Australia, England, and Germany, including Lokomotive Leipzig in the Bundesliga, Notts County, and Reading in the WSL. After her playing career wound down, she returned to New Zealand and balanced football with a career as a qualified accountant. A player with genuine class, longevity, and a legacy that younger Kiwi defenders will be measuring themselves against for years.

Anna Leat was born on June 25, 2001, in Arrowtown, New Zealand. She made history early in her career by becoming the first woman ever to play in New Zealand’s Chatham Cup. She joined West Ham United in 2021 and moved to Aston Villa the following summer on a two-year deal.

She represented New Zealand at U-17, U-20, and senior level, earning 17 caps for the Football Ferns. She returned to the A-League with Newcastle Jets after her time in England. Standing at 173 cm, she commands her area with confidence, reads the game sharply, and carries a natural presence between the posts that makes every Kiwi goalkeeper coach smile.
