High Possession Does Not Always Mean High Efficiency
A team can have 65% possession and still struggle to create shots. Another team may control only 42% of the ball but attack quickly, reach the penalty area more often and produce higher-quality attempts. Possession therefore needs context.
Passing accuracy also matters. Long spells of possession built on safe passes can raise completion percentage without automatically increasing attacking threat. That is why the calculator does not rely on a single metric. It combines control, shooting and goals in one result.
Possession Is A Starting Point, Not The Final Verdict

Example Possession Efficiency Calculation
Imagine a team records 60% possession, completes 540 of 600 passes, takes 15 shots, puts 6 on target and scores twice. Pass accuracy is 90%, shot accuracy is 40%, while the normalized shot and goal rates show how much attacking output came from that possession share.
The calculator converts each component to a 0–100 sub-score, applies the published weights and combines them into one final efficiency score. Because the component caps prevent one extreme number from overwhelming the total, the score remains easier to read across different matches.
