Football Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator
Choose the mode that matches the clean-sheet question you want to answer. Each option uses only the data needed for that calculation.
Basic Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator
Enter clean sheets and games played from the same goalkeeper, team, competition and period.
Matches in which no goal was conceded.
Use appearances or team matches from the same sample.
Home vs Away Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator

Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator Formula
The standard clean-sheet percentage divides clean sheets by games played and multiplies by 100.
Example: 12 clean sheets in 30 matches equals a 40.0% clean-sheet percentage.
Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator: What The Result Means
The Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator measures the share of matches in which a goalkeeper or team did not concede a goal. A result of 40% means clean sheets occurred in 40 out of every 100 matches at the same mathematical rate.
Clean-sheet percentage is useful for describing defensive outcomes, but it should not be treated as a goalkeeper-only performance score. Team defending, shot quality faced, game state, opponent strength, substitutions and tactical approach can all influence whether a match finishes without a goal conceded.
How To Use The Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator
Select the calculation mode that matches the record you want to analyze.

Home vs Away Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator
Home and away defensive records can differ. The comparison mode calculates each clean-sheet rate separately and then shows the combined record.
Home Clean Sheet Percentage
Home clean sheets divided by home matches. This isolates defensive outcomes in home fixtures.
Away Clean Sheet Percentage
Away clean sheets divided by away matches. Compare it with the home rate only when both samples are meaningful.
Target Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator
Target mode answers a planning-style arithmetic question: how many consecutive clean sheets would be required to lift the current record to a selected percentage? It adds future clean sheets one by one mathematically until the target is reached.
Required Clean Sheets For A Target Rate
For a target below 100%, the calculator solves (current clean sheets + future clean sheets) ÷ (current games + future clean sheets) ≥ target rate and rounds up to the smallest whole number.
If the record already includes a match without a clean sheet, the historical percentage can approach 100% with a long enough run but cannot return to exactly 100%.
Season Clean Sheet Percentage Projection
Projection mode applies the current clean-sheet rate to a chosen final season length. For example, 10 clean sheets from 25 matches is a 40% rate. Extended to 38 matches, the straight-line projection is 15.2 clean sheets, which rounds to about 15 clean sheets.
This is not a prediction model. Future clean sheets can change with fixtures, injuries, goalkeeper selection, defending, tactical changes, red cards and opponent quality.
What Counts As A Clean Sheet In Football?
In ordinary football usage, a clean sheet means finishing a match without conceding a goal. When analyzing a goalkeeper rather than a team, make sure your data provider’s appearance and clean-sheet rules are consistent, especially where substitutions or partial appearances are involved.
The Premier League maintains official goalkeeper clean-sheet statistics and also awards the Golden Glove to the goalkeeper or goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in a season.
Why Clean Sheet Percentage Is Not A Complete Goalkeeper Rating
Team Defense Matters
A goalkeeper behind a strong defensive structure may face fewer or lower-quality chances.
Save Difficulty Matters
Two clean sheets can involve very different workloads, shot volumes and chance quality.
Sample Size Matters
A 60% clean-sheet rate across five matches is less stable than the same rate across fifty matches.
When A Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator Is Useful
- Measuring a goalkeeper’s clean-sheet rate across a defined run of appearances.
- Checking a team’s defensive clean-sheet percentage over a season.
- Comparing home and away clean-sheet records.
- Reviewing clean-sheet rates across competitions or time periods.
- Finding how many consecutive clean sheets are needed for a target percentage.
- Projecting clean sheets across a fixed season length.
- Adding a clear percentage to goalkeeper or defensive analysis.
- Converting raw clean-sheet totals into a rate that accounts for games played.

Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator Methodology & Sources
The basic calculation divides clean sheets by games played and multiplies by 100. Home vs Away mode applies the same formula to two separate match samples. Target mode calculates the smallest run of consecutive clean sheets required to reach a selected rate. Projection mode extends the current rate across a chosen number of final games.
Clean Sheet Percentage Calculator FAQ
Quick answers about football clean-sheet percentages.
How do you calculate clean sheet percentage?
Divide clean sheets by games played and multiply by 100. For example, 12 clean sheets in 30 matches equals 40%.
What is a good clean sheet percentage?
There is no universal percentage that is automatically good in every competition. Team strength, league quality, sample size and playing style all affect the rate.
Can I compare home and away clean sheet percentage?
Yes. Home vs Away mode calculates both percentages separately and also shows the combined clean-sheet rate.
Can the calculator find clean sheets needed for a target percentage?
Yes. Target mode calculates the minimum consecutive clean sheets required to reach or exceed the selected rate.
Can a clean sheet percentage return to exactly 100% after conceding in a match?
No. Once the historical sample includes a non-clean-sheet match, future clean sheets can move the rate closer to 100% but cannot make the full record exactly 100%.
How does season clean-sheet projection work?
The calculator applies the current clean-sheet rate to the chosen final season length. It is a straight-line mathematical projection, not a prediction model.
Is clean sheet percentage only a goalkeeper statistic?
No. It can be calculated for a goalkeeper or for a team. Just use a consistent sample and definition.
Can I download my result?
Yes. Every mode includes a Download PDF button, and the generated file contains “Generated by GlobeHour.com”.
