About The Tool

What Is The Striker Rating Calculator?

A general player rating treats every forward the same, but strikers are judged on very specific skills. The GlobeHour Striker Rating Calculator focuses only on what matters up front: finishing, movement, composure, heading, pace, dribbling, strength and link-up play.

You get a striker overall from 1 to 99, a rating for five different striker roles, an octagon chart of your attributes, a downloadable striker card and a training plan based on the attributes that would raise your rating the most. Add your real goals and minutes to see whether your output matches how you rate yourself.

The Formula

How The Striker Overall Is Calculated

Each attribute carries a fixed share of your striker overall.

AttributeWeightWhat It Covers
Finishing26%Scoring from chances with either foot
Movement17%Runs, timing and finding space
Composure13%Staying calm one-on-one
Pace12%Acceleration and running in behind
Dribbling10%Close control and beating defenders
Heading8%Winning and directing headers
Strength7%Holding off defenders
Link-Up Play7%Lay-offs and bringing teammates in

Overall = the sum of each attribute × its weight, rounded to the nearest whole number. For example, the Poacher preset (finishing 88, movement 87, composure 84, heading 70, pace 74, dribbling 70, strength 64, link-up 60) gives a striker overall of 79 and a Poacher role rating of 82.

Striker Roles

The 5 Types Of Striker

Every striker scores goals, but they do it in different ways. The calculator rates you in five roles, each with its own weighting:

  • Poacher: lives in the box. Finishing, movement and composure matter most.
  • Target Man: wins headers and holds the ball up. Heading and strength matter most.
  • Speedster: runs in behind the defence. Pace and movement matter most.
  • False 9: drops deep to create. Link-up play and dribbling matter most.
  • Complete Forward: does a bit of everything with balanced weights.
Note: these weights are GlobeHour’s guide for a fun, honest self-assessment, not an official game or scouting formula.
Real Stats

How The Real Stats Check Works

Ratings are only as good as your honesty, so the calculator lets you check them against real numbers. Enter your goals and minutes, and optionally shots and expected goals (xG).

  • Goals per 90: goals × 90 ÷ minutes. For example, 18 goals in 2,400 minutes is 0.68.
  • Output score: a GlobeHour guide that turns goals per 90 into a 1–99 score: 35 + goals per 90 × 65. So 0.68 per 90 gives 79.
  • Shot conversion: goals ÷ shots. 18 from 80 shots is 22.5%.
  • Goals vs xG: goals minus xG. 18 goals from 14.50 xG is +3.50.

If your output score is much higher than your overall, you may be underrating yourself. If it’s much lower, focus on getting more shots in good areas.

Tips

Tips To Become A Better Striker

  • Practise finishing with your weaker foot every week.
  • Learn to time your runs on the shoulder of the last defender.
  • Attack the near post on crosses, it’s where many goals come from.
  • Work on one-touch finishes, as you rarely get time in the box.
  • Hold the ball up to bring teammates into the game.
  • Stay calm one-on-one: pick a corner early and commit.
  • Press defenders when you lose the ball.
  • Track your goals per 90 to measure real progress.
