What Is A Player Performance Score?
A player performance score is a single number out of 10 that sums up how well a footballer played in one match. Instead of judging a game by goals alone, it adds up everything the player did, from tackles and key passes to saves and mistakes.
The GlobeHour Player Performance Score Calculator uses a clear, open formula. Every player starts on 6.0, each stat adds or removes a set number of points, and the weights change with the position, so a defender gets more credit for a tackle and a goalkeeper for a clean sheet. The result is shown with a full breakdown so you can see exactly where the score came from.

Pass accuracy adds or removes points around an 80% baseline: (pass accuracy − 80) ÷ 100 × 2. So 90% passing adds 0.2 and 70% removes 0.2. The final score is kept between 1.0 and 10.0.
If a player is sent off for two yellow cards, enter 2 yellow cards and 1 red card. The second yellow is covered by the red card penalty.

In the example above, the forward scores a goal, makes an assist and has 3 shots on target, but also misses a big chance and picks up a yellow card. The raw total is 8.16, which rounds to 8.2, an excellent performance.
Why Positions Are Scored Differently
A forward and a centre back have very different jobs, so the same stat doesn’t mean the same thing for both. The calculator reflects this in a few ways:
- Goalkeepers earn points for saves, penalty saves and clean sheets, and lose the most for each goal conceded.
- Defenders get extra credit for tackles and interceptions, a big boost for a clean sheet and a goal from defence is worth more.
- Midfielders score through creativity and winning the ball, with a small clean sheet bonus.
- Forwards are judged mainly on goals, assists and chances, and are not penalised for goals conceded.

- Use stats from one source so every match is scored the same way.
- Save every match to the log to see real form over a season.
- Compare players in the same position for the fairest picture.
- Look at the breakdown to find the biggest strengths and weaknesses.
- Coaches can use it to give players clear, simple feedback.
- Youth and amateur teams can track their own stats by hand.
- Remember that some great work, like off-the-ball runs, isn’t in the stats.
- Pair the score with what you saw, not instead of it.

What Is A Good Performance Score?
A score of 7.0 or more is very good, 8.0 or more is excellent and 9.0 or more is world class.
Is This The Same As Sofascore Or FotMob Ratings?
No. It is GlobeHour’s own open formula. Sofascore starts every player on 6.5, while this calculator starts on 6.0, so the scores won’t match exactly.
How Many Minutes Does A Player Need?
At least 10 minutes. The clean sheet bonus needs 60 minutes or more.
What Counts As A Key Pass?
A key pass is a pass that leads directly to a teammate’s shot.
What Is A Big Chance Missed?
A big chance is a very clear scoring opportunity, such as a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Missing one costs 0.3 points.
How Do I Enter A Second Yellow Card?
Enter 2 yellow cards and 1 red card. Only one yellow card penalty is applied, plus the red card penalty.
Can I Track A Player Over A Season?
